Between November 2019 and January 2020, substantial native vegetation was removed, lopped, and destroyed on land located at 272-276 Rex Road, Campbellfield. An ecological assessment by expert Adrian Lamande identified this area as a high-quality remnant of Red Gum Grassy Woodland, classified as critically endangered under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
